Want a good answer for your aunt when she asks you, “Now what do you do with that microscope all day?” 

Join the Broader Impacts Group and try to describe your research using only the 1,000 most common words in English (warning: ocean is not one of them). It’s fun and surprisingly challenging! Try describing paleomagnetism without “magnet" or hydrology without “river.” The beauty of this exercise is that as you develop an answer to your aunt, you will also see the essence of your work and even gain insights into it. So come to the Clark student center on WHOI's Quissett Campus from 12-1pm on Thursday, February 14, to have some fun and cut down on some syllables. 

Light refreshments will be served.
