Are Chickadees Modern Dinosaurs?
The Dinosaur-Bird Connection....John Kricher
Thursday, February 28, 7:00 pm
Falmouth Historical Society Education Center
at Hallett Barn
Dinosaurs were among the most extraordinary animals ever to inhabit Earth. Giants such as Apatosaurus and Tyrannosaurus are giant icons of a prehistoric world long gone. But scientists have suspected that birds, once called "glorified reptiles," are generally rooted among the dinosaurs. In his talk, Professor John Kricher will present the most recent evidence for the dinosaur-bird connection. Our chickadees may be latter-day residents of Jurassic Park! John Kricher is Professor of Biology at Wheaton College in Norton, MA, who teaches courses in ecology, ornithology and vertebrate evolution. He is a prolific author who has conducted and published extensive research on migrant bird populations, dinosaurs and evolution. He has led trips all over the world and lectures extensively for conservation and birding organizations.
