Vacation Drop In Days, Grab and Go Activities, and Pop-up Osprey Programs

Looking for activities this April Vacation? With the arrival of the Ospreys on Cape Cod, plan to enjoy programs based on this magnificent bird. The Visitor Center will be open to guests where they can view our new Osprey Cam Live Stream on the big screen. In addition to the scheduled programs and visitor center exhibits, guests can grab a “Science Discovery Bag” filled with activities to complete on their own.

Visitor Center will be open Monday, April 18th - Friday, April 22nd

Off the Beaten Path

Tuesday, April 19

2:00PM - 3:30PM

Join us for the next in our series, “Off the Beaten Path.” Get some great exercise, meet other people, and explore a new trail to add to your repertoire.


This walk will take participants down Dead Neck Trail where views of Waquoit Bay, Washburn Island and South Cape Beach can be enjoyed. Walkers will also get to see osprey habitat.


This hike is a mile and a half walk on a sand path. Be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes and bring water. Hat and sunglasses are also recommended. Restrooms are not available, please plan accordingly.


Meet at Bayberry Parking lot located at 669 Great Oak Road, Mashpee, MA.

Osprey Observations

Wednesday, April 20

10:00AM - 11:00AM

Children ages 5-12 are invited to join Waquoit Bay’s Park Interpreter to learn about osprey.


Participants will get an up-close look at a nesting pair and learn about their travels to Cape Cod. Children can expect to be involved in an interactive program and can do an osprey related activity.


All children must be accompanied by an adult. Meet in front of the Visitor Center.

An Osprey Success Story

Thursday, April 21

3:00PM - 4:00PM

Join our Park Interpreter to learn how this species rebounded after a near extinction. Participants will get an understanding of the osprey migration and what their time on Cape Cod will look like.



Our Park Interpreter will also welcome special guest Glenn Davis, President of the Friends of the Mashpee National Wildlife Refuge, who will share the story behind the Osprey Live Cam Installation.



A spotting scope will be available for viewing the osprey on site and we’ll also view the live cam on the big screen.

Join a Park Interpreter on a short nature walk around the Reserve. Kids will get to explore nature and put on their curiosity caps. After the short walk will be a follow-up activity.


This program is best suited for children ages 3-7. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Osprey Edition

Celebrate Earth Day at Waquoit Bay.


Families will have the opportunity to partake in a series of outdoor games themed to the park’s seasonal visitors, the osprey.


Games are suitable for ages 5-12. Please wear closed toe shoes. All children must be accompanied by an adult.



Feel free to come early and bring your own picnic to enjoy outside on the bluff.
