Don’t miss out on our next, exciting RCF with Indiana University titled, “New Frontiers in Human Subjects Research” at the Forum Conference Center. Day one will feature interactive sessions with OHRP staff to explore important aspects of human research protections. Day two will focus on recent challenges facing human research protection programs, such as review of artificial intelligence research and ensuring data integrity in online research.

Trust, Technology, and Consent – an OHRP RCF with the University of Nevada in Reno (in collaboration with UC Davis)

Join us for another in-person RCF on October 25-26 at the Silver Legacy Resort & Casino in Reno, Nevada! On day one, attendees will have the opportunity to engage with OHRP staff and learn about the requirements of the 2018 Common Rule. Day two will focus on the use of emerging technologies in the consent process (e.g. mobile platforms & remote consent), issues of subject privacy, and the role of trust.

New Information Tool for Community Engagement

Are you looking to do more community outreach to increase diversity and promote inclusivity in your research? Then this informational checklist is for you! This tool helps explain what research and research participation is to community leaders and members. It includes informational resources written in easy-to-understand language and offers a progressive, step-by-step way for lay community members to learn about the complexities of research participation and oversight. We encourage you to print and distribute this tool within your communities.

OHRP’s 5th Annual Exploratory Workshop – Exploring payment as a tool to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion in research participation!

In response to recent widespread interest in improving diversity, equity, and inclusion in research participation from advocacy groups, non-profits, and research stakeholders, OHRP is excited to announce this year’s Exploratory Workshop, “Beyond Altruism – Exploring Payment for Research Participation”. This one day free workshop will be broadcast live on Thursday, September 15th. The goal of this workshop is to explore the role of paying people for their participation, the impact of payment, as well as the challenges and considerations for how payments should be made. Like past Exploratory Workshops, the morning will focus on ethical and theoretical considerations and the afternoon will explore the practical challenges and implementations. Be sure to save the date now so you won’t miss out on the lively discussion in September!

OHRP created two interactive training programs on considerations for reviewing research involving human participants. These programs help investigators and IRB reviewers to be cognizant of the importance of diversity, inclusion, and risk minimization in research participation.
