Create and Upcycle for the Holidays

Winter Solstice Winterscapes Walk

Join us on the shortest day of the year for a walk to tour Reserve headquarters to view examples of trees and shrubs for a colorful winter landscape. Learn about plants that you can buy at a nursery to plant in your own yard to provide interest and attract wildlife even in the coldest of seasons.

Finding Food In the Forest

Family Winter Walk at Quashnet River

Join us for a winter walk along the trail at the Quashnet River. We will bring a scavenger hunt and a few other surprises. We will be walking on one side of the river that is flat and wide.

All ages welcome. Wear sturdy shoes and dress for the outdoors.

First Day Hike at Waquoit Bay

Monday, January 1

10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Celebrate the New Year with a First Day Hike at Waquoit Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve as we walk the wooded area and the beach, view Martha’s Vineyard and South Cape Beach from the bluff, and look at local birds.

Warm up after at the Visitor Center with hot cocoa and conversation.

The hike is one mile (1), about 60 minutes long.  Be prepared for cold weather: dress in layers and wear winter boots. Dogs are welcome on-leash.

Meet at the Visitor Center.

Registration no required, sign-in begins at 9:30 am.
