check one off your "must sing" life list by joining Falmouth Chorale
for "Carmina Burana"! Rehearsals under the direction of John Yankee
will begin Tuesday, January 12th at
John Wesley United Methodist Church, on Gifford St. in Falmouth at 7:00
pm,
with registration at 6:30 pm, and will take place Tuesdays from 7:00 -
9:30 pm.
The participation fee for the spring season is $40 and music costs $10.
Performances of "Carmina Burana" will be on Saturday, March 20th and
Sunday, March 21, 2010.</span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal;"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";"><br></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal;"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";">"Carmina Burana",
composed
by Carl Orff, is a fiery and dramatic choral work based on a series of
12<sup>th</sup>
century poems. The opening section, “O Fortuna” (Oh Fortune) is played
at the
opening of each Patriots game, and is widely used in movies radio and
television commercials (hear it at <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/O_Fortuna" target="_blank"><span style="color: blue;">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/O_Fortuna</span></a>
). The songs of fate, love, passion, drinking, and making merry are
accented by
dynamic percussion.</span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal;"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";"><br> </span></p>
