NOAA’s Delaware II, will give a workshop on how to construct a monkey’s fist
and other knots, as he discusses the history of knot tying. The monkey’s fist is a heavy knot that
sailors attach to a light line in order to give the line thrust as they heave
it to shore or to another vessel. Sailors historically have whiled away their free time constructing
working knots and knots as works of art.
