Unfortunately, even after 7 months and trying everything we can imagine to smooth the transition, our old cat just can't stand Horton and is very unhappy.

We need to find another home for Horton. He is colored like cookie dough ice cream and is something of a goofball; he likes lying around the house on his back with his legs in all directions, enjoys chasing moths and flies, and he tips his head back and forth trying to understand when you talk with him. He is calm, sociable, and likes be a companion around the house, but he is not a lap kitty (at least not in summertime).

He is fine with children but does have a limit beyond which he doesn't want to be petted any more. He likes to be brushed and combed. Horton wants to play with our old cat, so likely would get along with other spunky kitties, but he is large (16 lbs) so might intimidate other small kitties. He is trained to use a cardboard scratching pad (in place of the furniture) and of course litter box.
