It seemed to have worked. In 1967 he discovered the Vodoo drum of Haiti and brought one back so it could talk to him after he returned to the cold, cold, cold of New England. With that drum he began his quest the music. He trained (aka fooled around) with the Suspenders Juggling Troupe of Falmouth, practiced obsessively in his back yard, then toured New England for two summers with Circus Smirkus, a youth circus from Vermont.
