"Times New Roman";color:black">English singer and songwriter Jez Lowe is widely known for his compelling original ballads, which he sings accompanied by guitar, cittern
or harmonica. A native of northeast England, he was raised in a town where the mid 20<sup>th</sup> century decline in coal mining had wrought widespread economic changes. Many of Mr. Lowe’s songs reflect this impact, addressing the economic and social struggles
of ordinary people. Songs like “Galloways” and “These Coal Town Days” connect deeply with audiences of all backgrounds by invoking universal experiences such as hard work, shrinking economic opportunity, and hope for a better future. In concert and on his
many albums, these evocative ballads are balanced with songs and tales of love, tradition, politics and adventure, liberally sprinkled with humor. Pioneering folk-rock artist Richard Thompson called Jez Lowe “the best singer-songwriter to come out of the UK

band The Bad Pennies continues to attract a wide following, and The Pitmen Poets has helped to rekindle the tradition of mining songs. Additional collaborations with The Broonzies, Men at Words and fellow songwriter Steve Tilston highlight Mr. Lowe’s commitment
to expanding the boundaries of traditional music while respecting its roots.</span></p>

Tilston, features co-written songs that speak equally to the past and the future. His recent compilation, “Heads Up – 18 Essential Jez Lowe Songs”, demonstrates the durability of his compositions as they are covered by other performers, including Fairport
Convention, The Dubliners, Cherish The Ladies, The Clancys, Gordon Bok and many others.</span></p>

lasting relationship with the BBC’s award-winning series “The Radio Ballads,” and in 2012 he participated in the creation of a special series of Radio Ballads to celebrate historic moments in the Olympic Games. The series was written for the 2012 Summer Olympics
in London, and was broadcast on BBC Radio during the event.</span></p>

mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman";color:black">In 2015 Mr. Lowe was honored with a double nomination at the BBC Folk Awards: Folksinger of the Year and Best
New Song. He launched his third decade as a song-writing troubadour with “The Ballad Beyond”, an album which garnered glowing reviews across the globe. Many of its tracks were Radio Ballads songs, recorded by Lowe for the first time. His song “The Wrong Bus”
from this album was singled out for inclusion on BBC Radio 4’s Pick of the Year.</span></p>

publication of his first novel, complete with an accompanying album. Set for release in November, the album will feature a set of traditional folk songs relating to the novel, a historical tale based on characters from an old folk song from North East England.</span></p>
