It’s that time of year again.<span> </span>Spring is on its way and the herring will soon be here. Nature still moves forward no matter what troubles us humans are having.

We are looking for some volunteers to help count the incoming herring migration. <span>
</span>The good thing is you can still observe social distancing protocols! <span>
</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0in 0in 10pt; line-height:115%; font-size:11pt; font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">
We have two ways you can help us.<span> </span>One is to sign up to count for a regular time slot for one hour in the evening for about 6 weeks in a row.<span>
</span>The other way is to do “random” 10-minute counts anytime of the day. <span>
</span><span></span></p>

Below are the time slots that are still available for the evening counts.<span> </span>
We usually start counting sometime in early April and finish near the end of May.
<span> </span>Within the hour period you make 3 ten-minute counts.<span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0in 0in 10pt; line-height:115%; font-size:11pt; font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">
This year we will move the counting location to the new Dexter’s Crossing bridge at the south end of the river.<span>
</span>This new location is much wider than the old spot at the Middle bog berm.<span>
</span>If you can partner with someone to count together at this wider span it would be great!

</span>He can give you further instructions on how to do a count.<span></span></p>

As mentioned above, we also need people to do random 10-minute counts during the day. If you are an early riser, we especially need people to count early in the morning, particularly from 5am and 6am.<span>
</span>Some of the fish like to move during the morning’s first light.<span> </span>
If you would like to participate in the random counts, please contact Peter Hargraves who is also on this email.<span>
</span>He can also give you more information on what is needed. <br>
