<div>Sierra Cape Cod’s “3rd Tuesday Talk” series resumes April 15th at 7pm with an expert panel exploring whether the growth policy in the current
<i>Cape Cod Regional Policy Plan</i> (RPP) is adequate for addressing multifaceted challenges and achieving future goals. This Zoom event is open to all, and time will be reserved for audience Q&A and discussion.</div>

<div>Cape Cod Commission, which is in the midst of <a href="http://www.capecodcommission.org/our-work/rpp-update/" id="OWA8e9bc4c3-9b50-39d5-c639-567108af6cf3" class="OWAAutoLink" originalsrc="http://www.capecodcommission.org/our-work/rpp-update/" data-auth="NotApplicable">
updating the RPP</a>, articulates the following high-level approach for balancing growth and resource protection:</div>

<div><i>"The Cape Cod Regional Policy Plan provides a growth policy that supports the vision for the future of Cape Cod as a place of vibrant, sustainable, and healthy communities and a protected natural environment. Growth should be focused in centers of activity
and areas supported by adequate infrastructure and guided away from areas that must be protected for ecological, historical or other reasons. Development should be responsive to context allowing for the restoration, preservation and protection of the Cape’s
unique resources while promoting economic and community resilience." </i></div>

<div>On April 15th, after a brief overview of the RPP's evolution since 1990, the following panelists will consider whether the RPP’s growth policy is working today, and whether changes might be needed to address present and future development pressures and
environmental and social challenges:</div>

<li><b>Rob O’Leary</b>, who was elected as a Barnstable County Commissioner in 1987, helped lead efforts to establish the Cape Cod Commission, served as State Senator from 2001-11, and is professor and chair of the Social Sciences Department at Massachusetts
Maritime Academy</li><li><b>Mark Robinson</b>, who has served as executive director of <a href="https://www.thecompact.net/" id="OWA03525684-4e4d-9e4e-2efb-376761004c96" class="OWAAutoLink" originalsrc="https://www.thecompact.net/" data-auth="NotApplicable">
The Compact of Cape Cod Conservation Trusts</a> since its founding in 1986, leading advocacy while facilitating hundreds of local and regional land conservation projects</li><li><b>Janet Milkman</b>, who as executive director of the <a href="https://blt.org/" id="OWAb0100e7f-8c61-521c-6101-422545414b01" class="OWAAutoLink" originalsrc="https://blt.org/" data-auth="NotApplicable">
Barnstable Land Trust</a> leads community-based efforts to conserve land and protect perceived open space while accommodating affordable housing</li></ul>
