<i>Working with the Veterinarian(s) and leadership, the Animal Care Director is responsible for managing all aspects of animal care, wellness, and husbandry, for leading and managing staff and volunteers, and for managing all aspects of the hospital facility
and life support systems. The position also assists with fundraising, helps to deliver education programs, represents the organization at events, and helps with general office and organizational duties.</i></div>

Serve as primary liaison between animal care staff and the veterinarians, ensuring that veterinary medical and diagnostic orders are implemented fully with consideration for each animal patient, the human caretakers, and organization resources.</li><li style="font-family: Aptos, Aptos_EmbeddedFont, Aptos_MSFontService, Calibri, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt; color: black; direction: ltr; margin-left: 15px;">

Provide or assist with medical care of patients, including administering medications, vitamins and fluids; treating wounds; helping with routine medical exams, blood work, radiographs, surgeries; and performing necropsies.</li><li style="font-family: Aptos, Aptos_EmbeddedFont, Aptos_MSFontService, Calibri, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt; color: black; direction: ltr; margin-left: 15px;">
Perform animal-related and facility-related laboratory work, including water quality testing, in-house blood and sample testing, and sending samples to outside laboratories.</li><li style="font-family: Aptos, Aptos_EmbeddedFont, Aptos_MSFontService, Calibri, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt; color: black; direction: ltr; margin-left: 15px;">
Maintain diagnostic equipment including radiology equipment, iStat blood gas analyzer, Abaxis blood analyzer, and other medical equipment.</li><li style="font-family: Aptos, Aptos_EmbeddedFont, Aptos_MSFontService, Calibri, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt; color: black; direction: ltr; margin-left: 15px;">
Establish and ensure compliance and best practices with animal husbandry and facility protocols, as well as federal and state guidelines and regulations.</li><li style="font-family: Aptos, Aptos_EmbeddedFont, Aptos_MSFontService, Calibri, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt; color: black; direction: ltr; margin-left: 15px;">
Ensure proper record-keeping, including animal medical charts, facility logs, drug logs, volunteer logs, and other necessary documentation.</li><li style="font-family: Aptos, Aptos_EmbeddedFont, Aptos_MSFontService, Calibri, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt; color: black; direction: ltr; margin-left: 15px;">
