This is part of the job I hate…

The LSM 880 is not getting the love it needs.

The heating insert is now bent by having been driven into an objective.  There was oil over the 10 and 20x objectives – these are air lenses.  Also please take care of the incubation cables by neatly putting them aside when not in use (as trivial as this latter item seems, I have had to replace lids to the tune of $8-10K over the years due to crimped cables).

Embryology is getting the same message.

As much as I want to say, “not us,” we also had a similarly damaged stage insert from our Nikon WF yesterday.  I straighten it back using my metallurgic skills but I still will need to report it.

Please pay attention to the status of a scope.  If things look trashed before you use, take a pic and send it to me and I will do my best to frame embryology.  But in all seriousness, I cannot emphasize enough how important it is to be good stewards of these microscope systems, please clean even if it wasn’t you and if this annoys you too much, call me and I will clean it for you.
