Subject: bootmgr error message on OMX - System back up and running

Hey guys,

Heard that there was an issue restarting the main OMX computer and that there was a bootmgr error message. This can happen when restarting the computer with a usb drive plugged into the computer. It will try to boot from that usb drive instead of the hard drive.

Steven removed the usb drive and then restarted the computer. It successfully booted up. The username is ‘worx’ and the password is directly above this (OMX… something). Be aware that it is case sensitive. This computer is the main instrument controller computer, so if it gets restarted the communication to the microscope also needs to be restarted. To do this, Steven started the acquisition software (AcquireSR, orange logo on the desktop) and then accessed the status window by clicking on the ‘instrument’ menu and clicking on the ‘status’ option. In this window there is an button to click ‘restart hardware.’ After hardware initialized, the camera computers needed to be restarted as well and there is a ‘restart cameras’ button next to the ‘restart hardware’ button. When Steven clicked this, the system wasn’t able to restart the cameras and he found that the camera computers (in the bottom part of the microscope enclosure) were not on. He turned all three computers on, let them boot and clicked the ‘restart cameras’ button again. This did the trick and it seems that the system is back up and running.

If anyone has any issues today just give me a call (713-826-0697). I am giving a training, but will call you back as soon as possible. Please forward this to anyone else using the OMX, I don’t have everyone’s emails (like Tina, Greg and Sarah).

Other than this, how has the OMX been? Everything good?

Also, you guys should send me screenshots of cool images you are getting :).

Sincerely,

Patrina

P.S. Thank you so much Steven for getting the system running again!
