Some time ago, I collected yarn for a knitting project in Tanzania that helped to support TACODA, a Children's Home, in Arusha, Tanzania. TACODA was established in 2005 to rescue orphaned and abandoned boys from the streets. (There are currently almost 2.5 million homeless children in the country.) The orphanage provides abandoned boys with a home, access to schooling, health and medical care, and personal guidance. It is sponsored by the Jim Arden Foundation, a small 501(c)(3) charity. The Foundation is committed to sending TACODA boys to a private English-language school in Arusha so that they can obtain the kind of education necessary for them to qualify for secondary school. Without this education, they are destined for a life of poverty.

Today , I am asking for more help in the form of children's DVDs. They will be used by both the TACODA Children's Center and the local primary schools in Arusha. DVDs go a long way in helping the children improve their English more quickly (a critical stepping stone to higher education in Tanzania).

If you have any "G" rated DVDs that your children have outgrown, please consider donating them to this worthy cause.

Thank you,

P.S. If you're interested in doing more for TACODA, you might considering sponsoring a child. The annual cost is approximately $2,400 a year, or you can become a "partial sponsor" for only $100 a year. Anything you can give will help!
