On Saturday, June 25th at 7:30 p.m. at the Woods Hole Community Hall, 68 Water Street, Woods Hole, there will be a staged reading of SLOBSTER - a sci-fi comedy musical about a lobster, an new original screenplay by Judy Laster.

SLOBSTER, a sci-fi, comedy, musical, tells the story of a dishwasher, a mad scientist, his environmentalist girlfriend, an evil Congressman and a group of people who are trying to get patents on a machine to harvest the lobsters and dominate the oceans. The scientist has been working for years to develop a process to morph man and lobster. He stumbles across S.L. Obster, a guy who washes dishes in a local fish restaurant and figures he has found the perfect subject to finalize his experiment. The only catch is that he had not counted on getting caught up in the frenzy set off when two different groups try to dominate the ocean by patenting a machine to scoop the lobsters out of the sea. When his former girlfriend, an environmental activist on Capitol Hill calls and asks for his help, he can’t say no. Naturally, coming up with a plan to save the lobsters is not as easy as it seems.

The reading is directed by Joan Edstrom and features performances by Bronwen Armstrong, Bob Bock, Davidson Calfe, Kelly Cooke, Tom Lyons, Vincent Myette, Joseph Richards, Michelle Slattery, Thomas Slattery, Lisa Smith, and narration by Dan Tritle.
