Dig It Local is a new service designed to support local farmers and food-makers by extending their market reach, while providing busy working people access to the joys of local food. It is now servicing WHOI, MBL, and NMFS.
How does it work?
Every week, farmers and food makers post their goods online. Once you have an account, you'll receive an email each time the store goes live. You can then login and browse the vendors, produce, cheese, pastries and more and order whatever you like - or nothing at all. The order window is Monday 8am - Tuesday 6pm every week.
On Thursday , Dig It Local meets the vendors at the Plymouth farmers' market, collects your food, and delivers it to one of 2 drop locations (see below) between 3:00 & 4:30.
Lillie Building: Food will be left under the stairs near the night watchman's office.
Clark Building - Quissett Campus : Food will be left in coolers in the 2nd floor copy center.

Why are you working with the Plymouth farmers' market and not one on the Cape?
This is our first year and we're doing what we can to get started. One of us owns a small farm with her husband and has sold at the Plymouth and Cambridge farmers' markets for years. We know all the vendors and were more easily able to launch a new business with existing relationships. In future years, we plan to branch out to support many more farmers and farmers' markets. Our goal is not to take business from existing markets, but to offer access to local food to those who don't currently have the time or ability to visit local farms or markets. Please don't hesitate to email if you have additional questions about this.
