3rd Annual Angel's Masquerade Ball
The Glenna Kohl Fund for Hope, Inc. will host their 3rd Annual “Angel’s Masquerade Ball” on October 29th, 2011 at The Ridge Club in Sandwich, Massachusetts, to raise funds for melanoma research and to spread awareness of the dangerous effects of overexposure to sunlight and tanning. The event will honor Glenna Kohl, a lifelong resident of Marston’s Mills, who lost her battle with melanoma, the fastest growing cancer in the US and the second leading cause of death in women ages 25-28. Approximately 63,000 cases of melanoma are being diagnosed yearly, and is the second most common cancer for women 25- 29 years old.
"We are excited to be receiving so much support for this event," said Colleen Kohl, mother of Glenna Kohl and Co-Founder of the Glenna Kohl Fund for Hope, Inc. "With a spirited evening planned, we look forward to honoring Glenna and carrying on her vision and fight to raise awareness around the dangers of melanoma, the importance of early detection, and measures to prevent this disease."
The evening will begin at 7:00 pm with complimentary cocktails, buffet dinner, silent auction, keynote speeches, special raffles, “Canopies for Hope” live auction, entertainment, and dancing to the music of Boston band, Full Charge. The organization will welcome keynote speaker, Dr. Donald Lawrence, Clinical Director of the Center for Melanoma at Massachusetts General Hospital. Funds raised from the event will be allocated specifically to melanoma research at MGH, raising awareness of the dangerous effects of tanning, and providing shade canopies on lifeguard stands as well as sunscreen dispensers on all Barnstable and Cape Cod beaches. Current Sponsors include Cape Cod Life Publications, Horizon Beverage Co., Triple 8 Distillery, Sam Adams, Horsley Witten Group, JJ Manning Auctioneers, and Carlson Audio Visual although we are seeking additional sponsors, donations, and auction/raffle items.
The Glenna Kohl Fund for Hope anticipates 400 guests and expects to sell out tickets prior to the event. General ticket price is $100 before October 15th and $125 after that date. A VIP preparty, limited to 50 guests, will be held beginning at 6:00 pm and will include cocktails, a local Seafood Bar, as well as other local bites along with live music. Our special VIP guest, Heather Unruh, is a well-known medical reporter and anchor for Channel 5 News. For more information, and to purchase tickets for the ball, please visit: www.glennasfund.org
