Poems & Pints, March 24 at Liam Maguire’s

Alice Kociemba will host “Poems & Pints,” a poetry open mic at Liam Maguire’s Irish Pub, on Sunday, March 24, from 3 to 5 PM. The open mic is a “What’s Falmouth Reading?” event, in keeping with the themes of the selected books: “Animal, Vegetable, Miracle” by Barbara Kingsolver and “Candy Freak” by Steve Almond.

All are invited to share poems on food, drink, and cultural heritage. Poems may be original or published works of others. Among those who are expected to read their poetry are poets who will be participating in the Falmouth Artists Guild’s April 2 to 22 Lobby exhibit, “Local Artists, Local Poets, Local Food,” at the Falmouth Art Center, 137 Gifford Street, in Falmouth.

These poets include Regina Correira of Falmouth, Robin Clarke of Yarmouth, Samm Carlton of Woods Hole, Theresa Gleason of East Falmouth, John Bonanni of Centerville, Judy Askew of Mashpee, Margaret Phillips of Eastham, Andrea Early of West Falmouth, and Alice Kociemba of Falmouth. Music by Peig Donoghue and "Rossacroo-Na-Loo."

“Poems & Pints” is free and open to the public. Liam Maguire’s Irish Pub is at 273 Main Street in Falmouth. For more information, visit www.calliopepoetryseries.com , or contact Alice Kociemba, director, at calliopepoetryreadings at verizon.net or 508-566-1090 .
