This message is from FHS teacher, Jim Brooks, of the woodworking program
Good morning,
It's that time of year again, the annual building of the FHS Adirondack chairs. The advanced level woodworkers have made their mistakes on their own chairs and are ready to raise money for the woodworking program.
My goal this year is to raise enough money to purchase a Sawstop table saw. Link to video of SAWSTOP table saw
The table saw is the most dangerous tool in the woodshop and my students do not use it. With this technology, FHS students will be able to use the saw safely.
This year I am going to use the help of Brooke in Activities. She is going to be available to get a list of names and collect the money for each order.
There are two advanced classes, along with myself, building these chairs and I believe we can build 50 chairs. Therefore, we are going to build 50 chairs for first 50 chairs paid for. If you would like to order a chair(s), please email Brooke at bhenrique @ falmouth.k12.ma.us
The cost of the chairs this year are going to be $150 per chair. Each chair will have zero exposed screws with 6 exposed carriage bolts. Each chair will be unfinished, which means not painted or stained. The chairs are made out of poplar, which is a great exterior wood.
First Come, first serve, and the chairs will go fast. Checks can be made out to FHS and please remember all of the money raised will provide materials and machine tools for the shop.
Thank you for your support and you will not be disappointed.
