Chatham Pier Program opens this weekend

Watch the action at the Chatham Fish Pier on the weekends.

Starting Memorial Day weekend, join seasoned fishermen on the Chatham Fish Pier to hear about their experiences on the water and have your questions answered about what's being landed.

The Pier Program is free to all - just show up with the family and learn about the local fishing industry while getting a behind the scenes look at how fish comes from ocean to plate.

April's Council Meeting Recap

Industrial fishing for sea herring
gets more oversight.

The New England Fishery Management Council met in April and approved much-needed accountability measures for the industrial midwater trawl fleet for Atlantic herring. These measures include strict weighing and reporting procedures to better ensure accurate and verified catch weights, as well as a prohibition on "dumping" of catch.

The next step is for NOAA Fisheries Service to put these rules into action on the water.

The Scoop on Scup
Wednesday, May 28 | 5:30 p.m.

Captain Willy Hatch knows his scup!

Join us at the Falmouth Arts Center - 137 Gifford St., Falmouth on Wednesday, May 28 at 5:30 p.m. for the inside scoop on scup.

Local fishermen Willy Hatch and Gov Allen will share stories about their lives on the water and the healthy scup fishery on Cape Cod. The only problem: competition from imported tilapia.

Chefs Corey Phillips and David Haddad from The Gathered Table will prepare a delicious recipe for all to try.

Free for Fishermen's Alliance members or $10 per non-member.

To RSVP, please email us or call 508-945-2432 ext. 111.

A special thanks to our event sponsor, The Cooperative Bank of Cape Cod.
