Interested in improving your communication skills? Want to become involved in a dynamic student group with plenty of opportunities to practice leadership and ocean science outreach? Then please join the Broader Impacts Group (BIG) at our introductory fall meeting Thursday October 9th, 4 PM . 




BIG is an organization founded by and for graduate students. At MIT and WHOI, BIG: 

-organizes workshops for students to develop communication skills like writing, image production and public speaking 

-provides outreach opportunities to practice these skills at venues like the Cambridge Science Festival and World Oceans Day 

-connects students to a network of professionals who work at the intersection of science and the public. 




We are eager to hear your input, ideas and general curiosity as we plan for the coming year. We will meet in the Clark Student Center (WHOI) with refreshments generously supported by the ODGE Fund and WHOI Student Organization.
