A Gastronomic Celebration of Oysters 

Supporting Ocean Sustainability 



Dr. Katsuyoshi Mori, President of the World Oyster Society, will be traveling from Japan to attend an Oyster Grand Tasting to be held at the Sea Crest Beach Hotel in Falmouth, MA. Dr. Mori and Massachusetts State Senator Dan Wolf will be honored guests 

at the event. 



Oyster gastronomy, saving our oceans, live music and merriment will combine on October 26, 2014 from 5-7:30 PM at the Sea Crest Beach Hotel in Falmouth MA. Leading chefs from near and far will prepare and present a signature dish to spotlight the benevolent bivalve. Culinary masterpieces of each chef’s own invention and interpretation will be served to a crowd passionate about food, environmental stewardship and the oyster aquaculture industry, while enjoying the sounds of the Fred Clayton Trio. 



The Oyster Grand Tasting is in support of the 6 th International Oyster Symposium (IOS6) of The World Oyster Society based in Japan, that will be hosted here on Cape Cod October 21-23, 2015 – the first time in the West. The goal of the IOS6 is to bring the people of the world together who have linkage to oyster science, industry and culture for the benefit of humankind and the environment. 



With President Barack Obama’s ocean preservation initiative, there is no better time to feature oysters. Oysters are vital not only to a significant part of world cuisine, but also, most importantly, the health of our one ocean and our survival. Barton Seaver, National Geographic Fellow, New England Aquarium Fellow, Director of Healthy and Sustainable Food Program at the Center for Health and Global Environment at the Harvard School of Public Health and appointee to the United States Ambassador Chef Corp will be giving a short presentation about balancing our tastes with what’s sustainable for our one ocean. 



Leading chefs include Daniel Kenney from Sea Crest Beach Hotel, Florence Lowell from the Naked Oyster in Hyannis, Timothy Ames from Mooncussers Tavern in Harwich Port, Matt Tropeano from Pain D’Avignon and Nathan Gould from the Harborview Hotel in Edgartown to name a few.
