Directed by John Yankee, The Falmouth Chorale will present ‘ Tis the Season s on Saturday, December 10 , at 4 PM and 7:30 PM and on Sunday, December 11 , at 3 PM at First Congregational Church, 68 Main Street, Falmouth, MA 02540.

With Christmas music at its heart, the concert also embraces other holidays and traditions from Thanksgiving well into the New Year. Enhanced by the young voices of the Cape Cod Children’s Chorus, a string quartet, a percussionist and Stephanie Weaver on piano, the concert will highlight the variety of seasonal celebrations that occur during the fall and winter months.

Join fellow concertgoers in the beautifully decorated First Congregational Church on the Green for this festive holiday celebration. Enjoy traditional carols, innovative arrangements, as well as compositions by Bach, Purcell and Buxtehude.

Artistic Director John Yankee comments, “There’s so much to sing about this time of year. For one thing, I‘m always bemused that songs about winter itself get dropped right after Christmas —even though we’ve got months to go before spring arrives. So, the catalyst for this concert is to present to our audience seasonal music that celebrates more than just Christmas . I’ve grouped this concert into songs that also honor Thanksgiving , Advent, Solstice, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Boxing Day, New Year’s, Epiphany as well as those songs that embrace winter, snow, and seeking warmth!”

Chorale members have had to brush up on their language skills this season, since this concert contains music in Spanish, Latin, German, Hebrew and the Nigerian Yoruba dialect.A popular concert feature returns again this year – the audience sing along. In true Falmouth Chorale fashion, audiences can “strike the harp and join the chorus” to Joy to the World, Silent Night and Auld Lang Syne, to name a few. Original Yankee arrangements of Good King Wenceslas, sung by the Falmouth Chorale Chamber Singers, and For the Beauty of the Earth and We Three Kings , sung by the Cape Cod Children’s Chorus will also be featured.

Stephanie Weaver, Falmouth Chorale accompanist and Executive Director of the Cape Conservatory says, “Watching the interaction of the kids, the Chorale and the players, especially the special effect the children’s voices have on the music, makes it a completely enjoyable holiday event.”

Tickets are $25/in advance, $30 at the door, Students/$5. Purchase tickets online at www.falmouthchorale.org or call 774-392-2383 for further information.

The Falmouth Chorale takes great pride in its community partnership with The Cooperative Bank of Cape Cod and the Cape Cod Foundation. Audience donations are also gratefully accepted.

The Falmouth Chorale, Inc. - PO Box 12, Falmouth, MA 02541. The mission of The Falmouth Chorale is to share with our audiences the joy of singing and to communicate with passion the marvelous and varied choral music that has been created over the centuries.
