Falmouth Volunteers In Public Schools (VIPS) will host an information session for volunteers interested in learning more about the Girls Circle program, on Tuesday, October 3rd. Erin O’Meara, the Girls Circle Program Leader for VIPS, will be on hand to answer questions, share curriculum, and describe the program and volunteer needs at Coffee Obsession on the Queen’s Buyway October 3rd between 9 – 11 a.m. Stop by, enjoy a cup of coffee, and learn about this exciting program.

The Girls Circle program uses a strengths-based, skill-building approach that creates a safe space for girls to share thoughts, concerns, and interests. The Circles are co-facilitated by two trained adult volunteers who introduce relevant themes and topics each week. During Circles, participants will take turns talking and listening to one another about their concerns and interests. The girls can express themselves further through creative activities, role-playing, journaling, and crafts.

Falmouth has had great success with the Girls Circle program as an after-school activity. A collaboration between VIPS, Falmouth Human Services, and the Falmouth Public Schools, the Circles provide a great way for girls to talk about topics of interest and relevance to them in a positive environment. Circles will begin in October at Morse Pond School, with additional Circles starting coming later in the fall at Lawrence. Spring Circles will be held for 4th graders at the elementary schools. Circle meet once a week for eight weeks and are limited to 8-10 participants each.

Registration is not required, but questions may be directed to Erin O’Meara at girlscircle at falmouth.k12.ma.us<mailto:girlscircle at falmouth.k12.ma.us> or to the VIPS office, vips at falmouth.k12.ma.us<mailto:vips at falmouth.k12.ma.us>.
