Ondine productions presents Seaweed, a solo music theater piece written, staged and performed by Eugenie Kuffler. Friday & Saturday, August 24 & 25, 8PM. Woods Hole Community Hall, 68 Water Street, Woods Hole, MA 02543. Tickets $13 Reservations 508 548 4659.

 Seaweed – a metaphor for going to the bottom of things, to an essence, to there where there is no more to shed, there where the thing is the thing itself. Humans drowning, dissolving among crabs, seahorses, jellyfish, fusing with immemorial underwater life forms, dwelling in a timeless space in which to remain forever suspended or from which to re-incarnate.

Four scenes conveyed through movement, sound, words, song and lights - an infant ejected from a boat plays with a bucket at the bottom of the sea, a woman slides off a rock to join a mermaid, a fisherman unites with the aquatic ghost of the Irish fishmonger Molly Malone, a paralytic turns into seaweed and releases her captive body.

 Eugenie Kuffler, is a composer-performer born in 1949 in Baltimore, Maryland. In 1967 she left for France where she studied instrumental and tape composition and flute. She has been a member of the music collectives The GERM, 010 and Hot Chills, has created radio works for Radio France, has directed and performed in the music-theater project – Etno Poesía Cuba in Havana and participated in performance festivals in Catalonia, Helsinki and Madrid. Presently she is member of the poet-performers’ collective – Les Toboggans poétiques. Since 1983 she has returned regularly to Woods Hole. Seaweed will be her 21st annual production in the Woods Hole Community Hall.
