This lecture will discuss the brain changes that happen with addictive substances and addictive behaviors. It will discuss the three most common risk factors to developing substance use disorders and describe some of the more effective treatments currently available. Finally, the discussion will turn to the state of Massachusetts, with a forward-looking view of treatment availability and resources in 2026.
