[Xenopus] phd position in Freiburg Germany

A research group in the Nephrolab (http://www.nephrolab.org/groups/carsten-bergmann/) (Director: Prof. Dr. Gerd Walz) at the University Freiburg Medical Center is offering a 

PhD student position

(immediately available, salary based on TV-L guidelines (TV-L 13/2).

Your tasks:

-       Molecular characterization of newly identified disease genes by a broad and interdisciplinary spectrum of techniques (see e.g. Hoff et al., Nat Genet 2013).
-       Translation of genetic findings into mechanistic studies in cell biology and model organisms (mainly zebrafish and Xenopus).

Your profile:

-       Solid background in molecular and cell biology (previous experience in a zebrafish and/or Xenopus lab is a plus, but no must).
-       The successful candidate is expected to be highly motivated and to pursue an integrated approach involving classical genetic, molecular, cellular, and biochemical methodologies.
