Dear Xenopus Community,
Registration for the Bioinformatics and Genome Editing Workshops is now open.
The Bioinformatics Workshop is being held May 1-7 and is being taught by Leonid Peshkin, Virginia Savova, Taejoon Kwon and Ian Quigley. This is an excellent intensive course that will teach you how to analyze your data, whether it is RNA-Seq or proteomics. For those wishing to learn some computer coding and how to look at your data without having to rely on others than this is the workshop for you. You can bring your datasets and analyze them during that week. For more details and a tentative syllabus please visit the Bioinformatics webpage ( http://www.mbl.edu/xenopus/workshops/bioinformatics ).
Workshop Costs (Bioinformatics)
Event housing, meals and registration, Single room – $1,800
Event housing, meals and registration, Double room -$1,400
Event meals and registration (no housing) – $1,000
The Genome Editing Workshop is being held May 6-14 and is being taught by Rob Grainger, Ira Blitz, Takuya Nakayama, Panna Tandon and Wil Ratzan. This is a hands on wet lab workshop designed to teach you how to use the Xenopus genome to design your sgRNA, clone it and test it. Both X. laevis and X. tropicalis will be available for this workshop. The workshop is meant to teach you how to make mutants in your own lab. It covers both theoretical and practical lectures as well as microinjection and molecular biology. For more details and a tentative syllabus please visit the Genome Editing webpage ( http://www.mbl.edu/xenopus/workshops/genomeediting-workshop ). The instructors work with you prior to the workshop to design the sgRNA or TALENs you would like made and if you register prior to April 1 the sgRNA and TALENs will be cloned for you and waiting to be injected when you arrive. But we require early registration to ensure the work is completed before the start of the workshop.
Workshop Cost (Genome Editing)
Event housing, meals and registration, Single room – $2,200
Event housing, meals and registration, Double room -$1,800
Event meals and registration (no housing) – $1,400
NEW THIS YEAR
Since the workshops are back to back you have the option of registering for both workshops at a reduced fee. This is excellent value for money.
Combined Workshop Cost (Bioinformatics and Genome Editing)
Event housing, meals and registration, Single room – $3,300
Event housing, meals and registration, Double room -$2,600
Event meals and registration (no housing) – $2,000
As with previous workshops scholarships will be made available to those that require it. Please contact me for more details regarding scholarships. The goal is to encourage as many of you to attend as possible. All costs include room and board and reagents, though you will have to bring your own laptop for the Bioinformatics workshop. Space is limited so register early.
If you have any questions do not hesitate to email and ask
Sincerely,
marko Horb
