Dear Xenopus community
We are very pleased to announce that the first part of Xenhead becomes available this week with the online publication of:
Zahn, N., Levin, M. and Adams, D. S. (2017). The Zahn drawings: new illustrations of Xenopus embryo and tadpole stages for studies of craniofacial development. Development 144(15), 2708-2713. doi:10.1242/dev.151308
http://dev.biologists.org/content/144/15/2708
These are beautiful new illustrations of stages and views not available in Nieuwkoop and Faber’s staging. While they were created to enhance studies and reports of craniofacial development, they show entire embryos and thus will certainly be of use to others. We encourage everyone to take a look at this new resource. In addition to the utility, these illustrations are, like the cover of the journal, truly works of art by the gifted illustrator Natalya Zahn.
The drawings are available for download at:
https://ase.tufts.edu/biology/faculty/adams/zahnDrawings.htm
If you’d like to use them, just cite the above paper.
They will also be made available at Xenbase; stay tuned for that announcement.
