Hi all,
A quick follow-up on a message I shared last year about Xenopus tank
labeling. And many thanks again to those who shared their setups and
practices, it was really insightful.
Since then, I’ve had the chance to exchange with several facilities, and
it’s been interesting to see how different the level of detail can be from
one place to another, from very minimal labels to quite comprehensive
tracking (RRID, ILAR origin, genealogy, spawning history, etc.).
One approach we’ve been exploring is using QR codes on tank fronts, keeping
the visible label simple while allowing access to more complete and
up-to-date information when needed.
Thanks again to those who contributed, it really helped ground this in
real-world practices.
More recently, another topic came up in a few discussions: simplifying
regulatory reporting.
For example, being able to quickly retrieve the number of Xenopus used per
research project over a given period, with a breakdown by severity level
(mild, moderate, severe, non-recovery).
I’d be very interested to hear what kind of data do you typically need to
extract for inspections or reporting?
And what tends to be the most time-consuming part today?
It would be really interesting to compare approaches across facilities.
Best,
Grégoire
