AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL – 50 YEARS
On Thursday, July 14, from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m., in Redfield Auditorium, the WHOI International Committee is sponsoring a talk by Amnesty International titled "The Tools of Science in a Tactical Arms Race: New Frontiers for Human Rights Defense” by Scott Edwards, director, Science and Human Rights Program, Amnesty International. High technology, from satellite imaging to smartphones, is helping in the effort toward worldwide human rights. Please join us to hear about:
• The dramatic shift in human rights research and advocacy over the past few years.
• Innovative approaches to human rights monitoring and advocacy used by Amnesty International.
• How geospatial tools and techniques are shaping the manner in which human rights research is evolving.
• New possibilities in guaranteeing the rights of the world’s most vulnerable people.
A reception will follow the talk.
