Register Today: Affordable Crew Training Courses for Mariners, Outdoor Educators 

Leadership, Basic Safety Training, Bridge Resource Management, and Wilderness First Responder courses will be offered in Cape Cod in December 2015, spring 2016, and fall 2016 



WOODS HOLE, MASS. — Sea Education Association is now accepting registrations for a variety of economical training classes in 2015 and 2016. These U.S. Coast Guard-approved courses are open to interested mariners, aspiring mariners, outdoor educators, and others interested in advancing their skills. To pre-register, please contact crewtraining at sea.edu . 



Our 2015-2016 course offerings are as follows: 



I. Leadership and Managerial Skills (New Course Offering) | LIMITED SPACE AVAILBLE FOR DECEMBER 2015 

LMS course covers the principles of the leadership and management in a shipboard environment. The goal of SEA’s LMS course is to meet the requirements of 46 CFR 11.3. Through lectures, discussions of case studies, and hypothetical situation exercises, the learning objective for this course is to provide watch officers with a practical understanding leadership and teamwork as applied to resource management, task and workload management, and decision-making techniques -- as per the guidance outlined in Section A-II/2 and A-III/2 of the STCW code. 

5-day course offered at SEA. November 30–December 4, 2015 (Introductory Rate). Course Fee: $ 950.00 

Upcoming course offerings: May 2-6, 2016 and November 28-December 2, 2016 



II. Wilderness First Responder (WFR) / USCG Medical Care Provider | LIMITED SPACE AVAILBLE FOR DECEMBER 2015 
The Wilderness First Responder program is the ideal medical training for leaders in remote areas including outdoor educators, guides, military, professional search and rescue teams, researchers, and those involved in the marine environment disaster relief. The curriculum is comprehensive and practical. It includes the essential principles and skills required to assess and manage medical problems in isolated and extreme environments for days and weeks if necessary. This Medical Care Provider course is also approved by the USCG to satisfy the Medical First Aid training requirements of 46 CFR 12.13-1: and the competency to apply immediate first aid in the event of accident or illness on board of Section A-VI/4 and Table A-VI/4-1 of the STCW Code, as amended. 

7-day course offered at SEA. December 5-11, 2015. Course Fee: $850.00 

Upcoming course offerings: April 23-29, 2016 and December 6-12, 2016 
Recertification course : December 3-5, 2016 (offered every 3 years) 



III. Bridge Resource Management (1600 Tons) (BRM) 
This BRM (1600 Tons) course will satisfy the requirements of 46 CFR 11.202(e) and the requirements of Table A-II/1. of the STCW Code, Maintain a Safe Navigation Watch. This approval is limited to service upon vessels of not more than 1600 Gross Registered Tons. 

3-day course offered at SEA. December 13-15, 2015. Course fee: $550.00 
Upcoming course offerings: May 9-11, 2016 and December 13-15, 2016 



IV. Basic Training ( formerly Basic Safety Training- BST ) 40 hours (4 modules) 
This course meets all STCW requirements for Basic Training in accordance with Chapter VI and Tables A-VI/1-1 through 1-4 in the areas of: 

· Personal Survival Techniques 

· Basic Fire Fighting (managed by New England Maritime) 

· Personal Safety & Social Responsibilities 

· Elementary First Aid 

The course objectives are to be able to react in a correct manner during emergency situations, take measures appropriate for his/her own survival and to the survival of others, and use survival equipment correctly. 

5-day course, with BST modules offered at SEA, with the exception of Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting, which is taught at New England Maritime. December 16 - 20, 2015. Course Fee: $950.00 
Upcoming course offerings: April 18-22, 2016 and December 13-17, 2016 



About the Crew Training Courses 

· Prices include housing in the cottages on the SEA campus and lunch each training day held at the SEA campus. 

· Crewmembers of Tall Ships America member vessels and members of the U.S. Sailing Association receive a 10% discount. 

· 100% attendance is required for USCG-approved courses to be eligible for a course completion certificate. 

· All courses will be held on the SEA campus at 171 Woods Hole Road in Falmouth, with the exception of a portion of the Basic Safety Training course.

· Space is limited ; please register early for best course availability.
