Sierra Cape Cod’s “3rd Tuesday” speaker series continues April 18 at 7 pm with a talk by Andrew Gottlieb of the Association to Preserve Cape Cod (APCC) demonstrating that Holtec’s proposal to discharge radioactive contaminants to Cape Cod Bay is unlawful and must be denied. Andrew Gottlieb, APCC’s executive director, has more than 30 years of experience in environmental resource protection as a local, county, and state official. On April 18, he will summarize the legal analysis<https://apcc.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/2023.02.14-Letter-to-CZM-EEA-4854-9744-9297-v.1.pdf> commissioned by APCC and presented to Healey Administration officials indicating that Holtec’s recent application to discharge wastewater generated during decommissioning of the Pilgrim Nuclear Power Plant cannot be approved under the Massachusetts Ocean Sanctuaries Act. Time will be available for audience Q&A and for updates from other organizations opposed to Holtec’s discharge proposal.
