Tickets are still available for the Tokyo String Quartet concert to be held at the Marine Biological Laboratory (MBL) this Sunday, August 1 in the Lillie Auditorium, 7 MBL Street, Woods Hole. The event, presented by Shawmut Design and Construction, will support the MBL’s research and education programs. 

The Tokyo String Quartet has captivated audiences and critics alike since it was founded 40 years ago. Regarded as one of the supreme chamber ensembles of the world , the quartet —Martin Beaver and Kikuei Ikeda (violins), Kazuhide Isomura (viola) and Clive Greensmith (cello)—has collaborated with a remarkable array of artists and composers, built a comprehensive catalogue of critically acclaimed recordings, and established a distinguished teaching record. Performing over a hundred concerts worldwide each season, the quartet has a devoted international following that includes the major capitals of the world and extends to all four corners, from Australia to Estonia, to Scandinavia and the Far East. 

This year’s program includes: Haydn Quartet in F Major, Op. 77, No. 2; Bartok Quartet No. 4; Schumann Quartet in A Major, Op. 41, No. 3. For more information on the Tokyo String Quartet visit www.tokyoquartet.com. 

Concert tickets range from $150 for preferred, patron tickets to $35 for general admission and will be available at the door or until they sell out.
