On Saturday, July 23 the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History will hold the 

Annual Brewster Butterfly Count, beginning at 9:00 am from the Museum and covering Brewster, Harwich, Orleans and Wellfleet. (Rain date: Sunday, July 24 at 9:00 am). The leader is Alison Robb. 

The Brewster Butterfly count is a special day-long opportunity to count butterflies for the North American Butterfly Association. There are counts in July all over North America, accessible by going online to www.naba.org . 

We welcome participants who can help identify butterflies as well as newcomers who can start on a new, exciting adventure, much like bird watching. You will also be making an important contribution to the scientific database. 

Butterflies are not only beautiful and interesting, but also important pollinators. 

Bring a lunch, binoculars, proper clothing and a butterfly guide, if you have one. We shall carpool in teams to many sites. 

In 2010 707 butterflies in 28 species were sighted!!
