RESEARCHGATE – A NEW WAY TO COMMUNICATE WITHIN THE WOODS HOLE SCIENCE COMMUNITY 


ResearchGate (http://www.researchgate.net/) is a new way to communicate within the Woods Hole science community. It can be used in a variety of ways, but the hope is that it will foster greater communication and collaboration. 



ResearchGate has some great features for setting up invitation-only workgroups (such as a forum for discussion, with links to people's profiles and publications). It could be the one-stop shop for info pertaining to the Woods Hole community. For example, ResearchGate is a place: 


- to post upcoming talks/presentations 
- to share recent publications 
- to get to know each other better professionally (i.e., maybe there's someone across the street doing similar work to you) 
- to get to know each other better personally (maybe you'd like to organize a lunchtime frisbee or chess group?) 
- to request help on a particular topic that someone in the community may have expertise on (such as a software program) 
- and just generally to foster communication and collaboration.
