Please join us Thursday, September 10, at 12:00 p.m., in Redfield Auditorium, when the WHOI Women's Committee will host a special seminar with Dr. Clarice Yentsch, entitled "Empowering the Women Scientist." Sweet treats from the French bakery in Falmouth will be available prior to the seminar. 

Dr. Yentsch received her PhD in Marine Biology in 1970, co-founded the Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences, and co-authored the book, "The Woman Scientist: Meeting the Challenges for a Successful Career." She was one of the first investigators to apply flow cytometry to the study of marine microbes, and conducted pioneering work in the areas of marine optical properties and dinoflagellate ecology (toxic algae blooms).

Members of the Women's Committee will be attending lunch with Dr. Yentsch directly after the seminar, and she will have time to meet with interested individuals after lunch. Please contact Danie Kinkade ( dkinkade at whoi.edu ) if you are interested in joining the group for lunch (at a local restaurant), or to reserve a time to meet with her after 2:00 p.m.
