Join The Transom Story Lab<https://transom.org/> for a night that’s part science, part storytelling, and all about one of the ocean’s most fascinating creatures.
Thursday, August 22 at MBL’s Clapp Auditorium.
6:00 – 7:00 pm
Start the evening with a special exhibit of live sharks and skates, fascinating specimens under the microscope, and an inside look at shark and skate research happening right here at MBL. Dr. Andrew Gillis and his team will be on hand to share their work — from how shark jaws and teeth evolved, to their incredible “sixth sense,” to the unique way their cartilage can heal itself.
7:00 pm
Pat Walters, senior editor at the public radio program and podcast Radiolab, takes the stage for “13 Ways of Looking at a Shark” — based off of Radiolab’s wonderful “Week of Sharks” radio series. Expect behind-the-scenes audio, surprising shark facts, and a fresh look at these remarkable animals.
