Field Teacher

Seasonal, part-time

Long Pasture Wildlife Sanctuary (Barnstable, MA) and Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary (South Wellfleet, MA)

About Mass Audubon
Mass Audubon is the largest nature-based conservation organization in New England. Founded in 1896 by two women who fought for the protection of birds, Mass Audubon carries on their legacy by focusing on the greatest challenges facing the environment today: the loss of biodiversity, inequitable access to nature, and climate change. With the help of our 160,000 members and supporters, we protect wildlife, conserve and restore resilient land, advocate for impactful environmental policies, offer nationally recognized education programs for adults and children, and provide endless opportunities to experience the outdoors at our wildlife sanctuaries. Explore, find inspiration, and take action at massaudubon.org<http://www.massaudubon.org/>.

About This Position
We are seeking enthusiastic educators with a love for nature to lead field trips at Long Pasture Wildlife Sanctuary (Barnstable, MA) and Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary (Wellfleet, MA), outreach school programs in classrooms across the Cape, and community group and family programs. Field teachers work closely with year-round education staff to provide hands-on, inquiry-based experiences that teach standards-aligned science content and practices. Long Pasture and Wellfleet Bay are home to a variety of coastal habitats, including salt marsh, sandy beach, and tidal flats, as well as forest and freshwater wetlands. Programs teach participants about Cape Cod wildlife, habitats, and conservation through guided hikes and engaging classroom visits and help to bring science to life while creating lasting memories in nature for the schools and groups we serve.
