Sharks in Estuaries

Monday, February 16

Ages preschool to kindergarten with adult



1:00PM - 2:00PM

Ages 6 years old and up with adult



Around the world estuaries are nurseries for young sharks. We will learn about these sharks and our local ones. We will experiment on why sharks float and have a scavenger hunt for shark teeth.

Did you know several types of dolphins visit estuaries for food and shelter? We will learn how these smart creatures communicate, travel in pods, and find food using hands-on games and activities.

Rays and Skates

These interesting sea creatures often look like they are flying through the water or camouflaging with the sea bottom. We will learn about their unique fins, play a camouflage game, and make and fly kites that look like stingrays.

Have you ever wondered what fish do in winter? We will discover how they stay warm and where to find them. We will walk to the beach, look for signs of estuary life, and make a fish print to take home.
