An Open Forum for Community and Communication

Wednesday June 3rd, Woods Hole Community Hall at 7pm

Atlantic Public Media and the Transom Story Lab are convening an open and free public forum to brainstorm the community's informational, journalistic, and artistic needs.

APM and Transom are non-profit public media institutions (founders of WCAI, The Moth Radio Hour, This I Believe, PRX, and more) and are now occupying the first floor of the Davis House (#3 Water Street in Woods Hole), reviving the former WCAI recording studios there. We are eager to determine local community needs and interests to help direct our energy. For example, beyond the local and national work we already do, we are interested in developing audio programming by local young people.

The underlying purpose in our work is to:

  * Spread needed and high quality creative stories for our community
  * Define journalism broadly, including our full humanity and knowledge.
  * Improve the commons. Include everyone. Develop collaborative energy.
  * Build coherence and pride in community.

The conversation will be facilitated by Jay Allison, Sophie Crane, and Steve Junker with representatives of other community organizations. Come join us in envisioning ways to improve our local media ecology.
