Hello,
The Falmouth High School Science Department is looking for local scientists to mentor motivated high school students for a year-long environmental science project. Our goal is to pair students with mentors before they apply to increase their chances of success.
We are targeting The Marjot Foundation Grant<https://www.marjotfoundation.org/apply>, which awards $5,000 for student-designed, hypothesis-based environmental research.
Here is the quick breakdown of how the funding is split:
* $1,000 stipend awarded directly to you, the adult mentor, for your time and guidance.
* $2,500 for research and project supplies.
* $1,000 directly to the student.
* $500 to the school's science department.
What is required?
If you work in an academic, government, or industrial scientific sector, you qualify to serve as a mentor. Mentors help students refine their environmental research proposal, write a letter of recommendation, and provide guidance on the project over the school year.
The next application deadline is October 15. You can review the full eligibility and proposal details on the Marjot Foundation page linked above.
If you are open to guiding a bright young mind—or have an existing project a student could assist with—please send me an email (ktribou at falmouth.k12.ma.us<mailto:ktribou at falmouth.k12.ma.us>).Thank you for supporting the next generation of scientists!
