Dear Xenopus community,
The NIH has been involved in implementing a method to track research resources, such as model organisms and has now reached out to the various communities to implement this. The Resource Identification Initiative is implementing recommendations for better reporting standards provided in a 2011 workshop (see https://www.force11.org/node/4145 ) held under the auspices of the Linking Animal Models to Human Diseases (LAMHDI) consortium.

Here is a recent paragraph about these activities in Nature:

Xenbase and NXR have discussed this with them and they asked us to reach out to our community to ask users to begin implementing RRID. Attached is a PDF document that Christina and I worked on regarding how you should use this and listed some specific examples. It is important for us as a community to begin using these RRID numbers. For the NXR you can find the RRID numbers on our list of stocks.

If you have any questions or cannot find an RRID number for a particular animal then contact Xenbase for details. We will both place this PDF on our websites as well.

Sincerely,

Marko (NXR) and Christina (Xenbase)
