Dear Xenopus Community
This is the LAST CALL to register for the NXR Bioinformatics Workshop being held May 13-19. Space is still available. Why attend you may ask? Well I’d like to give you some reasons to attend:
1. Do you have any RNA-seq or proteomic data? Are you planning on doing any such experiments to generate the data? If so then you should attend the workshop.
2. Tired of not being able to understand all the jargon used in Big Data? Trimming? Yes I do that as well otherwise my hedges will overgrow. Oh wait that is not what is meant. If you thought that is what it meant then you should attend.
3. Great teacher:student ratio. 3:1. You will get hands on advice and help.
4. Ever stare at the Xenopus genome on JBrowse and wonder what those squiggly lines mean or how do I get the cDNA sequence? You will learn more about that in the workshop.
5. Ever wonder how one maps sequence data to the Xenopus genome? You’ll learn that here.
6. You’ll be in Woods Hole.
7. You’ll get to see Marko and his crew; oh yeah and the NXR
8. You are thinking of your future as an independent PI and realize I must be able to do bioinformatics otherwise I will have to rely on others to do it. And then you recall that you don’t want to end up like Marko - he has been sitting on his RNA-seq data for 5 years now without getting it properly analyzed because he did not attend the Bioinformatics workshop. He has to rely on others……
9. You get to eat Swope food.
10. You’ll be in Woods Hole and get to eat french bakery goods.
Hope to see more of you register. It is very simple. Here is how you do it:
1. Go the NXR webpage for the workshop, http://www.mbl.edu/xenopus/workshops/bioinformatics
2. Click on REGISTER HERE
3. Login and fill out the form.
Sincerely,
Marko
