George Heufelder (Massachusetts Alternative Septic System Test Center), Jed Goldstone (WHOI), and Helen Poynton (UMass Boston) will explore how wastewater impacts water quality. What’s in our wastewater? What makes it through septic systems and into the environment? And how might IA septic systems keep nitrogen and compounds like contaminants of environmental concern (“CEC’s) from impacting our delicate coastal ecosystems?
